If you live in Adelaide….or even Australia for that matter, you probably know the name “D1″ Davey Clark and his crazy ke70 drift car. You probably would also know of JDMgirls.net Riki-lee Kazumi. What some of you might not know is that last month they got married! I was honored that i was invited to the wedding (and not you average wedding at that) to shoot photos for the day. You see, Davey and Riki-lee are both heavily into motor sport and drifting in particular so it was no surprise that the two had a drift wedding.

This here is Davey’s ke70 with its new v8 engine conversion in it. Yes its a beast! yes it bakes hard, but ill get into this latter.

The day started off with a morning open track drift session with many mixed Nissan’s but with a Toyota, BMW, and a Holden thrown in

For the day, Tailem-bend Motor sport park set up a special track in the reverse direction to normal and this made for a slow but interesting start to the day, but after a few runs from everybody it was time to shred which this BMW was doing very well

as well as this 180sx

and this street driven s15 owned by Adelaide drifter Tim Greaves.

By mid day, the track was cleared and everything was set up for the ceremony (which was held at the track mind you) and about the same time the nerves started setting in for Davey! Once the bride arrived and everyone was seated, she walked down the isle in true drifter fashion by driving to the isle way in her own s13 Silvia.

There ceremony than started in front of Davey’s ke70. Dont they look good in there matching race suits hahaha.

when it came time to read there vows to each other, Riki-lee read her vows from the heart…..Davey read his from his phone! hahahaha.

once the vows were said and the rings were given. the couple had there first kiss as man and wife………sorry………i didn’t manage to get a good photo of the kiss so you will have to imagine. The couple than went off to sign there certificate and enjoy hundreds of photos.

Once this was all done, the couple had the chance to do there first bridal waltz as husband and wife. But this was not to be a normal waltz. Now i told you i would get back to Davey’s ke70. The couple took Davey’s car for a thrash around the track and this was the first time anyone has seen it drift.

After the wedding ceremony, drivers were allowed back on track for an afternoon session which involved a lot of battles.

This was Stewey Bryants fathers red r32 that he was drifting for the day.

After getting majorly sun burnt and saying goodbye to some interstate friends, i congratulated the couple and left knowing that the was a special and unique wedding and probably the first drift wedding ever! Nissan Datsun car club of SA hillclimb

A few weeks ago I attended the Nissan Datsun car club of South Australia’s private hill climb day. There were plenty of old school Datsuns there on the day including a rare 510 bluebird that was running a rover V8 and painted in the BRE paint scheme. There was also an orange painted SSS 1600 bluebird racing up the hill! Among the mixture of Datsun and Nissan’s were a bunch a Mazda mx5, a few old Europeans, a new Toyota 86, and a very quick F1 looking racecar! The day was organised very well and through out the day, drivers were allowed to take passengers for rides up the hill. If you have never been to Collingrove hill climb, I highly recommend it as it’s a great track for both drivers and spectators alike. Thank you to the NDCC of Sa for running a great event and letting me attend to shoot the whole day.

Kelly’s Tailem Bend Birthday Bash

A few weeks back i attended a private drift day at Tailem Bend motor sport park for pro drifter, Kelly Wong’s birthday. If your not from SA or Australia for that matter, Kelly is a pro drifter that competes in the ADGP and Stadium drift series. She is also the owner of import parts shop Sleeka Spares (check them out for high quality aftermarket parts for your import). Anyways, here are some of the better photos from the day.

Theres not much to say about this event except WOW! Great day, great cars, great people and drift! If you havent been to DSC before, make sure you get their next year. Thanks to Mallala Raceway for putting on a good event.

Congratulations to Jarred Klingberg for taking out first place!

Luke Broadbent had a few unfriendly encounters with the tyre stacks through the day, but managed to get the car back together thanks to his crew and continued on to win the drift snake challenge.
